NORMAN, Okla. — Bella becomes Oklahoma's first therapy dog assigned exclusively to a 911 call center.
Before joining the Norman Police Department, she arrived at the animal shelter in critical condition, weighing just 22 pounds.
This first responder has an interesting story. The shelter staff thought Bella would be an excellent candidate for a therapy dog.
After six weeks of training, she completed the Guardian Angel program at Mabel Bassett Correctional Institution.
Bella continues her education outside of the program and soon will be receiving a formal certification.
